Soaring Seahawk!

How high can a Seahawk go? All the way to 5,269 feet!! Pictured is Nicholas Milligan atop Mount Katahdin, showing his UNCW pride by sporting his T-shirt. Nicholas decided to take on the exciting and daunting challenge of hiking part of the Appalachian Trail (AT) before beginning his studies as a freshman in January 2014.

His parents, Don and Lindy, state, "He is having an amazing hike and is experiencing so much of what life and nature have to offer, as well as many challenges and struggles along the way." Nicholas is from Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Katadhin is the northern terminus of the AT; Mount Katahdin is the highest mountain in Maine. Nicholas has already logged 1,229 miles and has 958 to go.

We support Nicholas in this amazing endeavor and look forward to welcoming him to the UNCW community soon!
